OPENING WEEKEND RECAP

Opening Weekend Recap:

The “Boys of Summer” 2016 Season kicked off with a BANG! Over 1,000 FANS came out for Opening Night to watch the Colt 45s take on the Rally Factory Rockhounds in the first of a three game series. With Grant Elementary Choir setting the tone with a beautiful performance of the National Anthem, nostalgia was in the air! The 45s were rolling for the majority of the game staking a 7-1 lead in 7th inning, but some costly errors late in the game saw the Rockhounds come out on top with 12-10 win. The “Boys of Summer” bounced back in front of 689 fans on Saturday night with a 6-2 victory that was highlighted by OF Ryan Williams (Cal Baptist Univ) 2R HR! RHP Jake Angelo (Harris Stowe College) 3(IP) 2(H) 1(BB) 4(SO) was impressive on the mound getting his first W of the summer. With the series tied 1-1 the rubber match game on Sunday did not disappoint. 825 Colt 45 fans saw four Colt 45s pitchers combine for a 4 hit shutout in a 3-0 win. RHP Brandon Lupton (Shasta College) was the WP 2(IP) 0(H) 3(SO) and LHP Andrew Arnold picked of his first SV of the summer. 1B Jared Bertotti (Simpson University/Lassen High School) went 2X3 1(R) 1(3B) and INF Ryan Torres-Torioka (Hawaii Pacific University) went 2X3 with a run scored.

The Colt 45s return to Tiger Field 45s this Friday night as we welcome the Seattle Studs in for a three game series. With total paid attendance totaling 2,414 fans for Opening Weekend, we are looking forward to breaking more records this weekend!

Friday night is Shasta Regional Medical Night, Saturday night is Redding Rotary Night and the series will be concluded on Sunday with Foothill Little League night. Half of every ticket sold will go to these groups so come support your Redding Colt 45s and these great organizations! First pitch 7:15 gates and the open 6:30. SEE YOU AT THE YARD!
