4-5-6-7 hitters deliver the offense, Marquez again stellar on the hill in 10-1 win

Colt 45s down Ringtails in penultimate game of the 2019 season

Starter Jacob Marquez struck out a season-high 13 over seven impressive innings and the middle of the Colt 45s lineup delivered throughout the night as they topped the visiting Ringtails 10-1 Friday night. In the next-to-last game of the 2019 summer collegiate campaign, one of the season’s biggest crowds cheered on as the Colt 45s won their second straight game over the cross-town rivals.

Marquez improved to 5-5 on the season, going 7 innings, allowing six hits – including two doubles and a homer to Ringtails catcher Wilson Kessel – allowing one run and striking out a season-high 13 with no walks. Kyle Schroedle pitched two scoreless innings of relief to finish the game.

Cleanup hitter Tanner Tweedt was 3-5 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Behind him in the order, Daniel Duarte was 3-5 with 3 RBI, 2 runs, including his second home run of the summer. The sixth and seventh hitters, recent additions to the Colt 45s for the final stretch of the season, also delivered. Ryan Bolf was 3-5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs, while Kasey Buchanan was 2-4 with 2 RBI.

The season closes on Saturday night, August 3 at Tiger Field, as the Colt 45s entertain the Ringtails for the ninth time this year. Redding has claimed six of the first eight meetings. Saturday night is Fan Appreciation Night at Tiger Field. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with first pitch at 7:15 p.m. Fans can also listen to the call of the game on the radio on KCNR radio.
